Curtain Headings Guide

Pencil Pleat

A pencil pleat heading is the simplest, most versatile type of curtain heading. The elegant slim folds (literally like a neat line of pencils) can create a smart, formal window dressing, but can also look great in a relaxed setting.

The pleats are created by pulling on cords to create an even gathering, which can be altered to fit a slightly wider or narrow window. Suitable for both curtain tracks and poles.

Triple Pleat

Sometimes known as french pleats, the triple pleat header helps create a formal ambiance in the dining room, hall or master bedroom. The pleats are held in place with stitching, so the curtain width cannot be altered. Suitable for both curtain tracks and poles. The pleats can be made to any size but generally they are 3″ or 5″ for a longer drop.

Eyelets

A great way of creating a modern look, eyelet curtains hang in wide, loose folds. Eyelets are available in a range of finishes. Works well with lighter and heavier weight fabrics. Only suitable for poles.

Wave

Wave is an innovative curtain heading system created by Silent Gliss. Wave style curtains are an ideal way to update your room from a traditional curtain system, to create a striking visual statement. Wave curtains are minimalist in appearance and have been designed to create a flowing wave effect. The look is achieved through the combination of a unique heading tape and a Wave glider-cord, to ensure the fabric hangs in a soft and even pattern.

Goblet

This goblet shaped gathering creates a sumptuous statement in a formal room and works well with heavier fabrics. To keep their shape, the goblets are usually no deeper than 10cm. This type of header isn’t advisable for smaller windows as the curtains tend not to stack back as well. Suitable for both curtain tracks and poles.

Swags & tails

Swags and tails look extremely sophisticated when hung at tall windows and made up in rich fabrics they are traditionally hung in formal rooms, entrances and hallways.
