When visiting our showroom many of our customers ask the question Should we have tilt rods? This can be a difficult decision. Below is some information to hopefully make the decision easier.

Tilt rods are slim poles that are either visible on the centre or offset to a side of the shutter or you can have hidden tilt rods which are not visible. The job of the rods is to allow all the louvers to move at the same time and sit at the same angle.

When choosing your plantation shutters you have the choice of having tilt rods. The three choices available from Osbourne’s are central tilt rods, offset, and hidden tilt rods. Both the central and offset tilt rods are visible and these run down the front of the shutters either in the middle or to the side. Shutters which have hidden tilt rods conceal the rods inside of the vertical side rail this provides a sleek contemporary look. To operate the shutters simply move one of the louvers and the hidden tilt rod ensures the other slats move perfectly inline.
